2009

 

 June 27: Paul & Clarice host a Marina del Rey Reunion

June 30: Caribou Club members take a cruise to Santa Cruz to visit with sick pal Marshall

 

July 18: We lose Randi Renaud, mom, grandmother, and friend to everyone in the Valley and beyond

 

August: Caribou take surfing trip to Shipwrecks in Baja to gear up for the winter season in Southern California.

 

September: We lose Van Nuys institution Luke Furlano,  Father of Kenny and Tonie and grandfather of Jason Furlano

 

October: Members gather in Ventura for the annual

Caribou Poker Tournament.

2010 winner: Tom Campbell

 

October 31: We lose Taylor Moss, 19, Grandaughter of Avis & Chris Hardy and neice of Cheryl Phillips

November 15: (We celebrate what would have been) John Meyer’s 100 birthday at his favorite spot, Santa Monica Beach

John's Favorite song: "What a Wonderful World"

 

November: Caribou members make another surfing excursion to Baja, just to make sure the surf is still there, see Photo Gallery

 


 

December 19: We end the year by losing Marshall Brewster,

funniest man ever

January 9: We lose Ron McCanna, 57,

original Caribou Club Member and chief chef of Terry’s boat


January 23: We lose Van Nuys institution Chris Hardy, 66;

favorite song: "Harvest Moon," Neil Young

 

January: We lead the year off with the Caribou 23 mile group walk on Pacific Coast Highway from Zuma Beach to Santa Monica Pier

February 7: Here we go again; we lose Bruce Christensen in Bangkok. Favorite song: “Don’t fence Me In”


February 27: Chuck Collazzi buys Harley in Las Vegas, crashes it, and is unable to attend the Memorial Celebration for Marshall Brewster in Santa Cruz. For the occasion, the Caribou rent a beach house with seven bedrooms, a pool table, all with ocean view, and in memory of Marshall, full bar. Total Caribou sendoff

 

March 31: We lose Betty Brinkmeyer, another Van Nuys institution and mother of Karen Brinkmeyer Campbell

 

April 1: Rare Buck Meadows Movie poster surfaces

 

April 9: We lose Jim Coultas, 92, movie studio and sailing legend, and father of Terry,John and JP Coultas.

 

May: Gulf Oil Spill occurs, Caribou Club rallies by sending Buck "Wildcat" Meadows to the scene, where he eventually seals the spill.

June: Caribou venture back to Baja for surfing and table pool practice in Camalu


June: Jeff becomes a nun, still surfs

July 9: Santa Fe resident and Caribou member Tim Donnelly becomes a Grandfather to his Colin Horne.

 

July 17: Speaking of Van Nuys Legends, alas, we lose Skip Gentry

July 30: Caribou are one the move again, this time visiting a minor league (Dodgers) ballpark in San Berdoo and then bunking up with Lily & Patrick Leahy in Beaumont, Scroll down in  Announcements


August: The Leahys take off for Eastern Europe. See Announcements

 

September 1: Caribou Club website launches new Announcements page. So far we’re falling short, but stay tuned. At least you are reading this on the Announcements page


October 10: Stan Thompson Retires in time for the Chilean Mine disaster 

Below, The Caribou Club springs into action by sending an already weary Wildcat Meadows, fresh from plugging the Gulf Oil Spill, to Chile. He ends up being the last human out of the mine, earning the unconditional love of all Chileans

November: The Caribou Campout & Poker Party in La Jolla Canyon Pt Mugu State Park. Perfect weather, surprise guests, and Cupid’s Hot Dogs

December 6: Chile Expedition


December 26- 31: Caribou webmaster Terry Coultas and wife Sharon risk it all to go visit Tim Donnelly in Sante Fe; get snowed in; are still snowed in as of December 31                     Photos hopefully to follow
